OkuyamaYasuhide Okuyama

Professor of the Graduate School (Social System Studies)
Chair, Doctoral Program

Yasuhide Okuyama works in the areas of regional economic analysis, focusing on economic impacts of disasters and structural analysis of regional economy.  His current research is on the construction of a standardized framework for disaster impact analysis. 

Professor Okuyama is also affiliated with the Center for Urban Earthquake Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, for research on urban disaster management.

Professor Okuyama was a World Bank consultant for the Assessment on the Economics of Disaster Risk Reduction, the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery in 2008-2009. 

Professor Okuyama’s articles have appeared in journals such as Journal of Regional Science, Economic Systems Research, Disaster Prevention and Management.  He was the lead editor of the book, titled Modeling Spatial and Economic Impacts of Disasters (2004, Springer).  He currently serves on the editorial board of Economic Systems Research
